Bayern demand £30m from Chelsea for Hummels

December 30, 2018

The January transfer window opens in just three days and clubs are finalising their plans to bring in reinforcements this winter.

Chelsea will need to pay £30million to sign Bayern Munich’s Mats Hummels in January as they seek defensive reinforcements.

Dominic Solanke is weighing up an offer from Crystal Palace to move to Selhurst Park on loan and will make a decision in the next 48 hours.

The England Under-21 international has not played a minute in any competition for Liverpool this season and Jurgen Klopp admitted recently that he had sympathy for Solanke’s situation.

The striker scored four goals in two matches against Italy and Denmark in November for his country but he could not get anywhere his club team.

Tiemoue Bakayoko has hinted that he would like to extend his spell at AC Milan.

The 24-year-old Chelsea midfielder joined the Serie A side on a season-long loan in August and has since become a first-team regular, playing 20 games in 2018.

Milan have an option to sign Bakayoko on a permanent basis in the summer and the Frenchman seems open to the idea of staying in Italy.

Manchester United pair David de Gea and Anthony Martial have been urged to sign new contracts with interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer advising: ‘the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.’

Both players have failed to reach agreement on extending their stay at Old Trafford beyond 2020 despite negotiations taking place over the course of the season.

Solskjaer, who turned down chances to leave United when he was a player, said: ‘I know the club want them to sign because they are top quality players.

Former American striker Eddie Johnson has appeared to announce Christian Pulisic’s move from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea on social media in a huge error.

Sportsmail have previously reported that Chelsea are chasing his signature, and a story in German outlet Bild on Saturday morning also claimed the Blues had agreed to take the player next summer.

And now the move appears to have moved a step closer to completion after Johnson, who played for Fulham, Cardiff and Preston during his lengthy career, revealed the move on Instagram.

Chelsea teen star Callum Hudson-Odoi looks like joining the exodus of English talent to the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich ready to make a second bid of £20million for the wide player.

Bayern have already had a £13.5m bid rejected with Chelsea reluctant to let teenager, who won the Under-17 World Cup with England, leave as he looked to be the player who would finally to breakthrough from their academy and into the first team.

But the wide player is frustrated with his lack of opportunities under Maurizio Sarri – he has only started in the Community Shield and twice in the Europa League – and would relish the chance to follow the likes of Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson to the Bundesliga.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has left the door ajar on a potential January departure for Alvaro Morata by suggesting the striker could be overlooked again for Sunday’s clash with Crystal Palace.

Morata has missed Chelsea’s last three Premier League matches and ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park, Sarri has hinted that, despite being fully fit, the 26-year-old may not join the travelling squad.

The manager is likely to continue using Eden Hazard as a ‘false nine’.

Chelsea will need to pay £30million to sign Bayern Munich’s Mats Hummels in January as they seek defensive reinforcements.

The Germany international, who was 70 caps for his country, is no longer first choice for his club and could be willing to move for regular game time.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has identified his defence as an area to improve in a bid to arrest his club’s recent slump in form.
