Canelo Alvarez has launched a foul-mouthed response to Gennady Golovkin‘s explosive accusations that he is a ‘cheat’, warning the Kazakh KO king he will kick his ‘f****** ass’.
The two middleweight megastars are due to meet in a Las Vegas rematch on May 5, eight months after their first fight ended in a controversial draw.
Though both fighters are currently midway through gruelling training camps, the fight remains in some doubt after the Mexican tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol earlier this month.
On Tuesday, Golovkin accused Canelo of doping ahead of their first fight and claimed: ‘They’re using drugs, and everybody is just trying to pretend it’s not happening.’
But the Mexican sensation hit back during his latest session in the gm, labelling the WBA, WBC and IBF champion a ‘little b****’.
‘I’m gonna kick your f****** ass’, he wrote alongside a video of him training on Instagram on Thursday.
Canelo is under investigation by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and during a media workout in Big Bear, California, this week Golovkin made a series of stunning accusations.
The Kazakh KO king branded Canelo’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya ‘dirty’ and vowed to ‘do my job’ should the Las Vegas showdown with Alvarez still go ahead.
‘Again with Mexican meat? Come on,’ he said. ‘I told you, it’s not Mexican meat. This is Canelo. This is his team. This is his promotion. Canelo is cheating,’ he said.
‘This guy, he knows. This is not his first day in boxing. He proves he gets benefits from everyone and he can get away with it. Check him on a lie detector and then we can find out everything.’
On their September showdown, he added: ‘It was pretty obvious when (Alvarez’s) muscles were all (enlarged)… and with the traces of injections, which were visible.’
