Asante Kotoko are set to make changes in their medical department after their painful exit from the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup, www.ekowasmahsports.com has learned.
The Porcupines failed to progress to the next phase of the Confederation Cup after 1-2 loss to Zambian side, Zesco United, yesterday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
According to sources within the club, management members are not so much enthused about the work of the current medical staff, following the injuries of Richard Senanu and Maxwell Baako who were pivots in the Kotoko team.
Three former members of Kotoko medical staff headed by Dr. Michael Leat, Emmanuel Osei Owusu, Andrews Owusu Amankwah and Gabriel Ofori Adjei are set to join the new team to strengthen the club medical department.
The new medical team will be headed by Dr. Twumasi Baah Jnr, the Ashanti Regional Medical Association General Secretary and specialist in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Below is how the new structure is expected to be:
1.Head of the Medical Team – Dr. Twumasi Baah, Jnr
2.Team Family and Medicine Specialist – Dr. Nana Afari
3.Team Orthopaedic and Traumatology Technician -Emmanuel Osei Owusu
4. Team Accident and Emergency Technician – Gabriel Ofori Adjei
5.Team Nutritionist, Accident and Emergency Technician – Andrew Owusu Amankwah.
The announcement of the new medical team is expected to take effect, this week.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko is expected to return to Ghana tomorrow morning from Zambia.
