JAVIER HERNANDEZ could be on his way to LA Galaxy… and a very big pay packet.
ESPN Deportes show Jorge Ramos y tu Banda have tweeted that David Beckham’s former club are about to offer £12m-a-year to the Mexican.
Chicarito has failed to net in three months for Bayer Leverkusen and German tabloid Bild reported in January that an offer of £21.5m will force the Bundesliga club’s hand.
Hernandez himself is keen to stay with Leverkusen and previously said in an interview: “Why would I like to stay in the Bundesliga? Because I feel good and I’m happy.
“I’ve learned a lot in the Bundesliga, as a player and as a man.
“I like playing in the Champions League, and luckily Bayer have been involved in the last few years. We hope we can achieve that goal again in the second half of the season.”
But other members of the Leverkusen squad are said to be fed up with his attitude and lack of contribution to team play.
And the bumper salary on offer may just convince Hernandez to make the move stateside.
Following the retirement of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, the MLS is desperate to attract more big name foreign players.
While American clubs have been very good at recruiting big names coming to the end of their careers, they haven’t been able to compete with the Chinese Super League in signing foreign stars in their prime.
At the age of 28, Hernandez could change all that.
