Antonio Conte wants plenty more new faces at Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has reportedly demanded five more players in this summer’s transfer window after talks with Roman Abramovich, Marina Granovskaia and Michael Emenalo.

The Italian tactician is said to have had a heated discussion with Blues officials in a two-hour meeting, and believes more additions are needed for the club to win the Premier League title.

Chelsea finished 10th last season after a disastrous run under Jose Mourinho and then caretaker Guus Hiddink, and Conte wants to avoid a repeat this term.Despite already bringing in two exciting signings in Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante, the former Juventus boss is still keen on further buys all over the pitch.

According to the Daily Mirror, AS Roma defensive midfielder Radja Nainggolan remains a target, as does Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Real Madrid front-man Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea have been linked with all three players for much of the summer, but, like last year, have struggled to land their top targets.

Mourinho was frustrated before the start of last season as the west Londoners brought in some disappointing players such as Radamel Falcao and Papy Djilobodji after missing out on big names such as Paul Pogba and John Stones.

It remains to be seen if Conte can kick Chelsea’s main transfer chiefs into gear to land the names he wants before the end of this year’s transfer window.
