David Kotei, Ghana’s first world champion in any discipline, has presented a formal petition to the president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, regarding his claim of State indebtedness to him.
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, received the petition, on behalf of the president of the Republic, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at a scheduled function inside the Minister’s office, Tuesday. Also, the minister received a copy of the petition addressed to the Chief of Staff at the Jubilee House.
Also, the former world featherweight champion presented a set of the petition addressed to the sports minister, Isaac Asiamah, the chief executive of the National Sports Authority and other officials.
On hand were the Chief Director of the ministry, who recounted the State’s long-standing practice ofof honouring some of Ghana’s world champions, citing D. K. Poison, himself, Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey, Joshua Clottey, Isaac Dogboe, and Ghana’s sole world champion, now, Richard Commey.
The Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah, thanked DK Poison for his exploits in the past and for the presentation of the petition, and assured him he would deliver it, promptly, for the attention of President Nana Addo.
Later, the officials took pictures with the former world champion.
