Ghana’s WBO featherweight Champion, Isaac Dogboe, defeated Filipino John Neil Tabanao to win the WBC Youth World title at the Police Officer’s Social & Fitness Centre, Friday night.
Dogboe won the bout on a unanimous decision after all three judges scored in favour of the 21-year-old in the great, combative fight, taking his record to 15-0 (9 KOs).
“I thank everyone for the support. I am proud of myself, I said it before, and I have been able to do it,” said the new champion, after a hectic time in the ring, for what could pass for his stiffest test, yet.
As stated by Hall of Famer, Azumah Nelson at the weigh-in the eve of that fight, now that Isaac has been able to get past the dangerous Tabanao, the Ghanaian could be on his way to world championship glory, in the near future.
“Right now, we’re gonna take a little rest, for about three months, and then, we’ll take the next step,” said a jubilant and relieved trainer/ dad, Paul Dogboe, in a post-fight interview.
