Luis Enrique still hasn’t made a decision on his future, which has led to a lot of speculation over potential replacements, and fomer Barcelona player Luis Suarez would pick Eusebio Sacristan as the man to lead the Blaugrana.
The only Spaniard to ever win the Ballon d’Or, Suarez knows Barcelona well from his spell there from 1955 to 1961 and recognises how difficult and unrewarding the job can prove to be.
“My favourite to replace Luis Enrique would be Eusebio,” Suarez said. “He deserves it and is doing a great job in San Sebastian.
“Ernesto Valverde has done a good job with Athletic Club and Jorge Sampaoli’s Sevilla play spectacular football – any one of those three would be a fine choice.”
The ex-Inter man also went into detail about how Luis Enrique has done thus far as coach.
“There isn’t anything better for Luis Enrique than Barcelona,” Suarez said. “Maybe economically, but not in terms of finding a team like Barcelona and being able to compete to win it all.
“He knows Barcelona well, but the job has become a bit of a deadweight.
“It is possible he may want to go somewhere where the work is a bit calmer, less demanding.”
