Asante Kotoko head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, has described striker Abdul Fatawu Shafiu as a brave player following the player’s sterling performances in the on going Normalization Committee’s Special Competition.
The Reds beat visiting Berekum Chelsea 2-0 to finish the first round of the makeshift league with ten points, topping the Northern Zone of the competition.
Two second half goals from winger, Emmanuel Gyamfi, and the competition’s leading goalscorer, Abdul Fatawu Shafiu aided The Porcupines to continue their winning streak.
Speaking at the post-match presser, C.K. Akonnor said “Fatau is a brave player and he has proved why the management signed him. He is a type of player who can always give you a moment of magic.”
The in-form forward has scored six goals in six matches to help Asante Kotoko to maintain their lead in the Northern Zone after the first round of matches.
The competition goes on a one-week scheduled break.
