Five players of Kotoko’s current first-team squad have been called up for international duty during this weekend’s international break.
Asante Kotoko’s mild success in the 2018/19 CAF Confed Cup competition has paved way for some of its players to don colours of two of Ghana’s national teams for the 2019 AFCON and U-23 Africa Games qualifiers, at the Accra Sports Stadium, tomorrow.
The Porcupines crashed out of the group stage of the Confed Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Zambian side, Zesco United, at the Levy Nwanawasa stadium, last Sunday.
Kotoko’s right-back and captain Amos Frimpong, reliable goalkeeper Felix Annan and midfield pivot, Kwame Bonsu, joined Black Stars of Ghana on their return from Ndola, Zambia.
The trio will be involved in the 2019 AFCON qualifier for the Black Stars as Ghana host Harambee Stars of Kenya in Accra, tomorrow.
Former Black Starlets goalkeeper, Ibrahim Danlad, has also been invited to join Ghana’s U-23 side, the Black Meteors, scheduled to host Gabon, tomorrow.
Elsewhere, Kotoko’s playmaker and reliable goalscorer, Songnè Yacouba, has been called on by the Burkina Faso senior national team as they host Mauritania at Ouagadougo in the AFCON qualifiers, this weekend.
