Ghana brings the USA down to earth

October 4, 2016

Ghana’s Black Maidens have shot down their high-flying American opponents in their world U-17 encounter at the King Abdullah II stadium, this afternoon.

The favoured Americans, having won their first match 6-1 over Paraguay, drew the first blood when Tagliaferri converted.
Yet, Ghana, 0-5 victims of the Japanese conquest in their opening match, would not be denied, pulling level through Acheampong in the 63rd minute.
Ghana left it late to grab the winner, but Sandra Owusu Ansah made no mistake, converting an 84th minute penalty.
The USA tried to get in the game through a late rally but Ghana held firm to record her first win, in line with coach Evans Adotey’s prediction.
