Joey Dawejko will be back in action against the formidable Murat Gassiev on July 27 in Arlington, Texas.
The 29-year-old has been a major talking point in boxing over the past week, as it was rumoured he knocked Anthony Joshua out in sparring before the Brit’s upset defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr.
On June 1, AJ was floored four times and stopped by Ruizin one of boxing’s biggest upsets in recent times.
Many observers have attempted to justify the shock result, with multiple theories emerging as supposed ‘explanations’ for Joshua’s downfall.
One of the most prominent whispers suggested that 19-7-4 heavyweight Dawejko KOd the champion while sparring in preparation for the bout – though the Brit’s promoter Eddie Hearn has denied any such occurrence.
Now, Dawejko’s next fight has been announced and he is working with Hearn once again.
Former unified cruiserweight champion Murat Gassiev recently signed with the Matchroom boss and will now be making his heavyweight debut on June 27.
Dawejko has been viewed as the ideal opponent and so the pair will square off on the undercard of Maurice Hooker vs Jose Ramirez at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, USA.
