The clash on Merseyside between the two fierce rivals comes with both teams looking to launch an assault on the title this term and reestablish English dominance.

Jurgen Klopp’s side would go joint top if they secure three points but the Red Devils have won the last four league matches between the sides and Jose Mourinho will be keen to make it five as his side attempt to go level on points with the Reds.

I find it extraordinary he can be recalled in a game of such magnitude, but we shall see at around 7pm if the Spaniard is in line for a return… Watch this space.

Regardless of tonight’s result, it’s still going to be too early to call but what an opportunity for one of these sides to grab a massive three points, and inflict some damage on bitter rivals.

Victory builds confidence and belief that a return to the top could be on the cards, while simultaneously landing a hammer blow on the title chances of an old foe.
