It’s the final major of the year and the last chance for three of the big four as Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and Jordan Spieth go in search of the Wanamaker Trophy.
McIlroy has won it twice already but, like Spieth and defending champion Day, he’s without a major in 2016.
Johnson has no such worries having won the US Open last month and, starting as the bookies’ favourite, he tees it up with Danny Willett who won the Masters and Open champion Henrik Stenson in a prime-time slot on Thursday.
McIlroy has Day and Phil Mickelson for company – they’re among the early starters.
