Not So Fast – Dzamefe Commission

November 6, 2014

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry has halted the Ghana Football Association from refunding the the World Cup money to the government of Ghana, according to allsports.com.gh

The GFA was on Thursday, supposed to meet the Minister of Youth and Sports Mahama Ayariga to refund monies given to the Black Stars to participate in the 2014 World Cup after receiving $8million from FIFA for participating at the 2014 World Cup.

But the Dzamefe Commission has moved to stop the repayment of the 4m dollars by the Ghana FA to the Ministry of Sports as it aims to finish the brouhaha surrounding the performance of the Black Stars and other issues that happened in Brazil.

The Commission has been tasked to look into the principles and policies that underpin systems and structures employed by the FA in running Ghana football.

They are mandated, amongst others, to look into events as pertained to preparations, exit, treatment of fans, remuneration of players and officials.

It is expected, therefore, to give an overview and recommendations per their findings at the close of work.

Ghana’s government flew around $4 million in cash to Brazil to avert a player walkout at the World Cup in June.
