RONALDO CRISTIANO: The Stuff Of Legends

April 6, 2015

“What more can I say about Cristiano?” Even Carlo Ancelotti is at a loss for words to describe his star player, who has written yet another record-breaking chapter in his life as a Real Madrid marksman. In the game against Granada, the Portuguese scored five goals – something he had never before achieved as a professional player.

At the Real Madrid goal-fest, Ronaldo sat at the head of the table. At the break, he had already claimed his hat-trick – in just eight minutes, his fastest as a Real player. Finishing off the party with a couple more in the second half, the forward made it a day to remember for football fans all around the world.

Goals galore
Real Madrid fans the world over are celebrating Cristiano’s supersonic comeback. Up until the Granada game, the player seemed lost at sea, as did his team. He couldn’t have turned things around more spectacularly if he had tried. To put it all into perspective, he scored in one match the same amount of goals that he had previously racked up since 18th January.

The goal-machine has now scored 36 goals in la Liga and 47 across all competitions this season. Moreover, he has now entered the select club of players that have scored 300 goals or more for Real – membership to which has only so far been managed by Di Stéfano (307) and Raúl (323). As things stand, Ronaldo finds the back of the net 50 times a season. This is the stuff of legend.

The player’s name is to be found in nearly all the record books. The five goals he scored this weekend was one of the few challenges that he had left. Not any more. His comeback couldn’t have come at a better moment for Real, who will need him more than ever over the next few weeks. Ronaldo will be happy to oblige. For him, goals are not numbers, but joy, positive energy, good times. Against Granada we saw the most jubilant man on earth. A far cry from the man at war with himself and the world, desperately in search of a goal. The change has been as from night to day.
