Ahead of Sunday’s crucial Confederation Cup match between Asante Kotoko and visiting Nkana FC, midfield enforcer, Richard Senanu, has been declared unavailable, ekowasmahsports.com can confirm.
Information available to us indicates that the high-flying midfielder could not pass the required fitness test, this afternoon.
Senanu, 24, a key member of coach C. K. Akonnor’s team in the Africa campaign, sustained an injury during a Confed Cup match against another Zambian side, Zesco United, at the Baba Yara Stadium, two weeks, ago.
Again, Akonnor would have to rely on Umar Bashir who stood in during the first fixture with Nkana FC at Kitwe, Zambia, last Sunday.
The 2005 finalists will also go into the match without their brave captain, Amos Frimpong, due to accummulated cards.
Asante Kotoko SC are in a dicey position, perching on the fourth position with three points from three matches while Nkana FC lead group C with six points.
A win for the Porcupines – as they did over the other Zambian side at the same venue – will lift Kotoko from from the bottom, after which they play host, again, next weekend.
Given the potential to amass six points over the next two matches at home, Kotoko have no business letting down their loyal fans.
That weight of expectation, their solid home record, their motto of never letting up in battle against the poor away record of Nkana put Kotoko in good stead to win, tomorrow, and put their campaign back on track.
