Burkinabe international, Songnè Yacouba, has told the management of Asante Kotoko he wants to leave the club after only one season.
Yacouba, 27, signed on a one-year contract, has been an outstanding performer since he joined the club before the commencement of 2018/19 season.
A source close to the Ghanaian giants has told ekowasmahsports that the striker has notified the Kotoko management of his desire to seek another challenge elsewhere following a recent meeting between the management, the player and his reps.
The playmaking-striker was handed a senior national team call-up by the Burkina Faso national team following his impressive performances in the CAF Confederation Cup competition, in which Kotoko could not get past the group stage..
Unconfirmed reports reaching us indicate that some foreign clubs have contacted agents of the striker to secure his services.
Yacouba had scored four goals in five matches before the local league was truncated due to the unearthing of corrupt practices by shameless Ghana football officials captured in a documentary aired by ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team, last June, .
However, he couldn’t replicate his goalscoring abilities in the CAF Confederation Cup but emerged as as the team’s pivot, unlocking defences, providing assists besides his primary duty of planting the ball in the back of nets during the aforementioned competition.
