Champions League semi-finals are decided by small margins, so it would be no surprise if goalkeepers Sven Ulreich and Keylor Navas have a major role to play when Bayern Munich take on Real Madrid.
With Manuel Neuer out injured, Ulreich has stepped up for the Bundesliga champions and he has been impressive, so much so that the club have released a 2017/18 statistical comparison of the German and the Costa Rican.
Navas has played just two fewer matches – 39 compared to 41 – yet, Bayern point out, he has just 10 clean sheets to Ulreich’s 17, while the Costa Rican has conceded 43 goals, compared to 34.
Navas has made more saves – 116 to 98 – but has a lower save percentage – 72 percent vs 74 percent.
As for penalties saved, Ulreich has a 60 percent success rate, while Navas has a 40 percent success rate.
Finally, they point out that Ulreich has prevented 54 percent of big chances from ending up as goals, while Navas’ equivalent number is 43 percent.
