Almost without exception, Manchester United fans have been positively jubilant today with the news that Wayne Rooney has been dropped for Thursday’s trip to Feyenoord.
The Red Devils captain has not been at his best for some time now, but looks no closer to being fully axed from the first-team for big games in the Premier League.
Still, some fans now hope United manager Jose Mourinho will see sense on the issue as he rests Rooney for this Europa League tie.
It is worth noting that other big names such as Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia have also not been selected to travel.
But it’s clear that Rooney’s omission was the big talking point on Twitter immediately afterwards…
Yes it finally happened no Rooney!!! Sadly it’s only the Europa League so doesn’t mean anything but still! #MUFC
