Watch your back, Fury! – Warren warns

June 3, 2019

The fallout from Anthony Joshua’s upset loss to Andy Ruiz over the weekend continues to ripple throughout the boxing world.

Now even Frank Warren is chiming in on the situation, using it as proof positive that no opponent is to be taken lightly, not even Tom Schwarz (24-0, 16 KOs) who will fight Tyson Fury (27-0-1, 19 KOs) on June 15 with Fury being the massive favorite.

“Tom Schwarz has got the chance to change his life in Las Vegas. He is a big guy who can punch and is also young and unbeaten. He will take inspiration from Ruiz.

”Tyson though is not complacent and has been training hard since his fight with Deontay Wilder [in December 2018]. If he did think he was in for an easy night’s work, he might just think again after watching a big favourite tumble in New York.”

Warren would continue by mentioning that he’s not completely stunned to see that Ruiz was able to detonate on Joshua, as Joshua has shown in the past that he can be touched, and hurt, and that hasn’t seemed to improve his defense since.

“Suffering defeat in such a manner to Ruiz did come as a surprise, but the vulnerability of Joshua has been there for all to see over a number of fights now. He has been clipped by a few good opponents and nothing seems to have been done to minimise the risk.”

Warren finishes by saying that he believes most other heavyweights will gain confidence from Ruiz’s win, believing that they too can take out Joshua — presumably even if he wins his titles back.
