The captain for Asante Kotoko SC, Amos Frimpong, says today’s showdown with Zambia’s Zesco United in Ndola will be a difficult match but they will wrestle for victory.
The last phase of 2018/19 CAF Confederation group stage matches come to an end, today, and Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko will play as guests of bottom-positioned Group C team, Zesco United.
The Reds need nothing but victory in order to progress to the quarterfinal stage after failing to beat Sudan’s Al Hilal, drawing 1-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, last week.
Zesco United on the hand are out of contention and have nothing to lose even if they win today’s match.
Group C leaders, Nkana FC have amassed nine points and will sail through from the group with Al Hilal ( seven points) in the event Kotoko drew or lost to Zesco United.
Cognisant of the permutations, the Kotoko captain summed up courage in a chat with ekowasmahsports.com:
“It is a difficult match today and we have nothing to survive with apart from a win. We will surely go into this match with absolute faith to grab all the maximum points.
“We have all that it takes to beat Zesco and we will not disappoint the rank and file of (our) team here,” Frimpong assured the team’s millions of supporters around the world, expecting victory in battle today at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium .
