Arsene Wenger has ruled out the possibility of selling Alexis Sanchez to Chelsea and claims Arsenal do not need to sell their best players to their Premier League rivals anymore.
Reports had emerged that Antonio Conte waskeen on signing the 28-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of next season.
And the Chilean’s comments while on international duty seemed as if the forward was angling for a move to Stamford Bridge, which has brought up fans’ memories of selling Robin van Persie to Manchester United back in 2012.
But Wenger believes the two situations are wholly different and that Arsenal will not sell Sanchez to Chelsea under any circumstances.
‘It’s true that it happened before when we were in positions where we had to sell our best players but that is not the case now.
‘He has one and a half year contract it’s not an immediate concern for Arsenal Football Club.
‘I think personally he’s happy here. It’s true we haven’t extended his contract here, you have to be cautious when people give interviews in their own countries as the interpretation is not always the same.
‘He wants to win the championship.’
