Winning against Techiman Eleven Wonders in the makeshift premier league match, Sunday, is a big motivation to Asante Kotoko, says assistant coach, Akakpo Patron.
He promised they would work very had to grab an opportunity to play in next season’s CAF champions league.
Two spectacular free-kick goals from Abdul Fatau Safiu in the first half and a stupendous strike by Evans Owusu in the second half of the game gave the Reds a convincing win on the road and took them atop the Northern Zone table of the Normalisation Committee’s Special Competition.
Speaking to the media after the game, Akakpo Patron stressed on the importance of the victory and lauded his lads for putting up the sterling performance.
“The win means a lot to us especially as a big motivation for us. We want to work very hard so that at the end of the day we will go back to playing the champions league.
“In football, anything can happen on a very good day, once we take our set pieces very well.
“It was a very good performance from the boys,” concluded Patron, himself a former key player of the club.
Asante Kotoko face strong opposition in AshantiGold, Wednesday, at the Baba Yara Stadium on Match Day 4 of the Special Competition.
