Martino open to Tevez return

Argentine coach, Gerardo Martino, has not ruled out the possibility of calling up Carlos Tevez, who missed out on the World Cup and scored a brace to secure Juventus its home win over Malmö (2-0) in the Champions League.

"If I have to say where I see him, in the way I like to play, it could only be as a number 9. Nowhere else. Now, competing with Higuaín, with Agüero", Martino said in an interview published in 'La Nación'.

Martino denied rumours of friction between Tevez and the 'Albiceleste' team. "A lot of stories have been invented, based on the decisions made, that have nothing to do with football, and sometimes it's just football. They will say I didn't pick him for this reason or that reason… Like now, it is being reported that there was a special meeting to talk about Tevez. Absolutely false", he revealed.

In recent weeks, some of the media have claimed that the squad should have approved Tevez's return to the national side.

Martino will release the list for the tour of China and Hong Kong next week, to include two games – on 11th and 14th October – which will feature some new names, such as Mauro Icardi, who scored three goals for Inter Milan last weekend.

Icardi is hitting the headlines at the moment with regard to his relationship with Wanda Nara, the ex-wife of Icardi's friend, Maxi López.

"It's hard to judge a player on things that have nothing to do with football", was Martino's comment on the matter.
