The Presidential Commission of Inquiry looking into Ghana's failed Brazil 2014 World Cup campaign has had their mandated extended by a month.
Accordingly, the Commission gets more time to take a detailed look into financial transactions of the Ghana Football Association specifically regarding cash paid towards the Black Stars' participation at the World Cup by FIFA as well as GNPC, the official sponsors of the national team.
Headed by High Court Judge, Justice Dzamefe, the Commission was set up by President John Dramani Mahama in the wake of the Black Stars disgraceful participation at this year's global football tournament that saw Ghana eliminated at the group stage for the first time ever.
A host of officials of both the GFA and others related to the team as sponsors, fans, former players, committee, technical and management including GFA President Kwesi Nyantaki, former Sports Minister Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and dismissed BlacK Stars coach Kwesi Appiah have all appeared before the 3-member commission during their seatings.
Now the commission have been given more time to scrutinise the Black Stars financial details following the receipt by the football association of the $8million World Cup money last week.
Aside the FIFA cash, the GFA have also received various monetary benefits as a result of sponsorship deals with the likes of GNPC who pay $3million yearly as headline sponsors of the team.
Other auxiliary sponsors include official bank of the Black Stars, uniBank who only on Wednesday night presented a cheque of $400,000 being the second installment of their own $1.2m 3-year sponsorship contract with the national team.
